Ms. Kussmaul's Class
Exhibition is always an exciting process for our 5th grade students. It not only represents their completion of the PYP program, but also serves as a starting point for life long action. To begin, students explored current global issues. Teachers and students shared issues they felt strongly about through video reflections. Students also set goals for themselves throughout this process. They used the learner profile attributes and approaches to learning to think about their strengths and what they hoped to improve on through the Exhibition process. Once the assignments leading up to Exhibition were complete, students began the research process. They developed life-long skills such as time management and organization by planning their schedule for Exhibition. Students put together pacing calendars to keep them organized during the two weeks of project research. They completed self-reflections several times a week to think about what they had accomplished, what their plan was for the upcoming days, and to note any challenges they faced. Through this process, students learned that research never truly ends.
As IB students, they strive to always know more by asking questions and using what they learn to help others. As you can see, this project was a huge undertaking, especially in our new digital classrooms. I am extremely proud of each and every one of my students. They took on this project with confidence and excitement. They worked very hard on these projects and learned so much through this process. I hope you enjoy seeing how knowledgeable they have become about their topics, and maybe you will be inspired to take action! Please leave a video response on a few of the projects and don’t forget to complete the student feedback survey!
